Taking care of your children’s hair is often frustratingly difficult. Up until the age of 10, most children have superfine hair. This soft and fluffy hair is often difficult to manage, especially since some level of care is needed to ensure that the hair develops healthily. Proper hair care in childhood produces a full set of hair that is important for the psychological development of the child as well.

Proper children hair care also has an affective and educative aspect. By instilling interest in your children’s hair care, you become closer to them. It also provides them with the necessary grooming reflexes that will last them a lifetime. Here are some tips for maintaining the health of the children’s hair:

  • Washing with a mild shampoo is often recommended.
  • Combing and Brushing—only mild brushing should be performed at night as over-brushing will stimulate the sebaceous glands into releasing oils. This will make your child’s hair greasy. A soft combing will give the required shine while removing any tangles.
  • Detangling—this is best done before washing the hair. A wide tooth comb should be used. One should start at the bottom of the hair, working up. To reduce the pain associated with combing tangled hair, the hair should be held taut while combing. A detangler can also be used.
  • Accessories—the right accessories will spark up interest of your children in their hair care. Quality brushes and combs as well as clips and hair ties will considerably alleviate your hair care tasks while decreasing the amount of tangling that occurs.
