Formal Updo Hairstyles

May 05, 2012 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair

Special occasions such as weddings, business parties and certain social functions require that you sow up with a formal hairstyle. Updo hairstyles are always acceptable in formal settings. Brushing your hair to the back or piling it neatly on top of your head, gives your neck an elongated look, and focuses attention to your shoulders. Updo hairstyles also make it possible for you to bring attention to your earrings and necklace. To sum it all up, the updo hairstyle lets you show off your beauty. Variations of the classic formal updo hairstyle are:

Bangs
Bangs help when you want to hide blemishes, scars or slight imperfections such as a high forehead. Adding bangs to your updo hairstyle requires just one easy step. You can simply have part of your hair slant across the forehead or create a bang by pulling a section of your hair over your forehead and clipping it to make an even bang across your forehead.

Curly Updos
Formal curly updo hairstyles can sometimes be a little tricky, but well worth the extra time and effort. The perfect formal curly formal updo requires you to curl all of your hair before pinning it up. The look is excellent for women with naturally curly or wavy hair. Setting off your curly updo with appropriate barrettes, combs or other forms of jewelry adds drama to your look. Be careful, however, not to over do the hair accessories. Make sure that whatever you put in your hair does not detract from your overall look or clash with your necklace and earrings.

How to Keep your Hair Healthy Looking

May 03, 2012 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair, Women’s Fashion

There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that women need to pay attention to their hair to maintain a good personality. A person with healthy hair not only oozes with confidence but looks attractive and gorgeous too.
However, to keep your hair healthy and shiny, you need to mull over different things. The first important thing is to have a balanced diet containing all essential vitamins and minerals. Since hair is made of protein, it would be wise to include protein rich foods.
The next big thing is hygiene. It is imperative to maintain healthy hair which means you need to wash hair regularly with a mild shampoo suited especially for your hair type with water neither too hot nor cold. Condition your hair daily only at the ends to keep it luxurious and smooth.
Most stylists recommend a hair trim every six weeks which helps avoid split ends. Also, change your hair brush at least once a year because a brush with worn out bristles could damage your scalp. Dandruff is harmful to hair, so use some anti dandruff shampoos to combat it.
These are only few suggestions, but these are the basics and you should never overlook their importance.

Hairstyles for the 21st Century

May 03, 2012 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair

As the snow melts and the trees begin to bud, women the world over are looking for the perfect spring hairdo. The season’s new hairstyles are all not only exciting, ranging from the classic to the ultra modern, they offer lots of different looks as well as some color selections we haven’t seen before.

Back to the Good Old Days
The retro look of a bygone era starts with hairdos made popular back in the 1930s and 1940s. Decades later, the glamour and charm of the costumes and luxurious hairstyles exhibited in romantic movies like Casablanca and Top Hat are making an unexpected comeback. Unexpected though it may be, the hair fashion of the 1930-1940s have made a brilliant comeback. The dramatic curls and waves of this era are clear expressions of today’s penchant for beauty and charm.

Long, Sexy Locks
When parted down the middle, this classic style remains an all time favorite. The sleek look of long tresses framing the face accentuate the face and body in a very unforgettable way that makes you stand out in any crowd. If you don’t want to take my word for it, just think about Cher.

All about Color
There is nothing new about coloring hair. This year’s color collection, however, is quite unique. Contrasting colors is the thing for 2011. This spring, consider paring ash blonde with hair that is turquoise or pink… or honey blonde with gothic red or jet black. Not only will you stand out from the crowd with one of these new hair color combinations, you can use your choice of hair color to express your personality and your own individual style in a very unique way.

How to Curl Straight Hair

May 02, 2012 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hairstyle

Having straight hair is a blessing, but it’s nice to change your look with curls done at home with some tools and know-how.The best way to curl straight hair without heat is to work with damp hair. Apply mousse or gel on your hair before curling it.

Shaggy curls are created when you blow dry your hair upside down while scrunching it from time to time. Throw back your hair once it is dry and use hairspray to set it.
If want delicate curls, you will need rollers. Blow dry hair but leave it damp and divide into sections to wrap around the roller. Use appropriately sized rollers and smaller rollers to frame the face.

Rollers work best on dry hair but, if you are in a rush, blow dry on low. Don’t blow dry on curls that are still forming. Set your curls with hair spray so they last the day.
Applying heat while forming curls faster. However, is very damaging and best used on dry hair. Put extra care on your hair in doing this and it’s recommended to use styling mousse.

Hot rollers will be able to curl your hair fast and easily. Just follow the instructions. Curling irons are fast and easy, just be careful not to burn yourself. The thicker and straighter your hair is, the more time and effort is involved into curling it. But who doesn’t want the confidence that radiates with a new look?
