Beauty Tips for Working Women

June 09, 2011 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Beauty, Tips & how to’s

Appearance in a work environment is a crucial issue for both men and women. However, as always, most pressure is on women. Studies have found that well-dressed and groomed women earn around 10% more money than women that dress plainly. This may sound horribly discriminating but this is how the world works. For women, beauty breeds confidence and confidence breeds success. Yet, many working women are embroiled in their routine that they often forget this aspect. Combining work, marriage and often children, it is very difficult to find time for oneself. Here are some tips for those busy working women who cannot find sufficient time for themselves.

Sports and Relaxation
The first key to beauty is health. If your body is stressed and tired, this will most certainly reflect on your appearance. Doing some amount of sports everyday is not only good for your waistline, it also helps you relax, and results in a more restful sleep at night. These are all important factors in giving you that fresh, youthful look the next morning (instead of the sagged appearance of a tired woman).

Choice of Clothing
Clothing should always be chosen in function of one’s body. In general, clothes with vertical lines make you appear longer, while clothes with horizontal lines make you appear shorter and fatter. Thus, if you are tall, you may wish to appear more voluminous so that clothes with horizontal lines would be more suitable. The reverse is true for people who are short and plump.

Hairstyle and the personality of women

June 09, 2011 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair, Women’s Fashion

Many people think that they have the ultimate choice over how they look. Hairstyle, being a fundamental part of our appearance, is often carefully chosen by most of us in order to reflect our body size, shape and other physical characteristics. Research has shown that humans begin to form an impression of an individual’s personality and character within seconds of first meeting them. Hairstyle has been shown to be one of the major factors that help form an opinion of the personality of the person we are looking at. The reverse has also become known to be true. We choose our hairstyle in function of our inherent personality traits.

Short Hairstyle Personality
Short hairstyle is often associated with financial well-being. A well-groomed hairstyle of this type indicates a personality that cares for appearance and is willing to spend profusely in order to look splendid. This also suggests some vanity and a psychological need for acceptance.

Long Hair Personality
Long hair indicates some resistance to growing up. Women with long hair have trouble accepting their age. It indicates a personality that is immature and irresponsible.

Hair colored white/gray Personality
Women with light colors as these have little problem with growing old. Their personality is independent. Social norms and pressures are shrugged off easily. They decide for themselves what is right or wrong.

Purple hair Personality
Women with strange hair colors are non-conformists. Most of them have an artistic side. Most of them are young and have a taste for adventure.

Women in Formal Wear

June 09, 2011 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Women’s Fashion

When the invitation says Formal or Black Tie, what does that mean today? Well, Black Tie means that men wear tuxes, and women wear long dresses, dressy cocktail dresses, or occasionally dressy evening separates. Formal usually is the same as black tie. However, if you live in a more laid back atmosphere like Los Angeles, it could mean skipping the tie with the tux, and women would have more scope for choosing dressy evening separates.

Trends in formal wear include the following:

Bright colors. Formal wear no longer is restricted to black, white, midnight blue, and eggplant. Bright blues, greens, and even yellows have increased in popularity. After all, if a formal occasion is something to look forward to, why not look like you’re having fun?

Empire waists. This style, where the skirt begins immediately under the bust instead of being attached to a waist-length bodice, is flattering to so many figures, both young and more mature.

Tiered dresses and skirts. This is a look that works best on those who are very young and/or very thin. The layers complement a thin figure, whereas it may be just too much volume for those with pronounced curves.

Environmentally friendly fabrics. Silks, cottons, and silk-cotton blends are starting to be used rather than acetates and polyesters. An advantage is that silk and cotton both feel good against the skin.

Halter dresses. This look is almost universally flattering because the eye is drawn upward and the neckline provides a frame of sorts to the shoulders and face.

Remember, even if the invitation says “formal” it doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun with your style!

Natural Beauty Regiment

June 09, 2011 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Beauty, Tips & how to’s

Everybody wants to be beautiful. But beauty always has a price. The most evident price is what you pay at the salon or the products you buy. There is however a more costly payment that does not appear until years later. It is the impact on health. Traditional beauty products are almost always loaded with men-made chemicals that have long-term effects when used regularly. Men-made chemicals, though they can be effective, are usually harsher on the body. The result is accelerated ageing, loss in skin tone, wrinkles…etc. Some people develop a hypersensitivity to these products so that they no longer can use normal cosmetics. A natural beauty regimen is softer and gives the body the relaxing respite that makes it more beautiful. Here are some essential components of a natural beauty regimen:

Aromatherapy
While it can be used for many other purposes, aromatherapy is also used for beautification. With aromatherapy, the skin is kept clear, the body becomes smoother, and the hair is encouraged to flourish. Essential oils can be used to treat wrinkles, pimples, cellulite, and dry skin. Some essential oils that are commonly used are lavender, tea tree, and sandalwood.

Natural Shampoos
Exposure of the hair to the chemicals contained in shampoo contributes to hair loss in the long run. It is It is therefore imperative to look for natural shampoos without any addition of chemicals.
