Curly Hairstyle

May 17, 2012 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair

We went through several years where hair was ironed as straight as possible and curly hair took a definite backseat. But now, thank heaven, those of us with waves or curls can embrace our curliness.

Curly hair tends to be dry and fragile. You can keep it healthy by air drying it as much as possible and using weekly moisturizing conditioning treatments. Leave-in conditioners work great for everyday use.

When it’s time to visit your stylist, make sure that she cuts your hair wet in order to see the curl pattern clearly. Make sure you get long layers, or you’ll end up with a mushroom-shaped ‘do. Some curly headed women recommend choosing a stylist with curly hair on the theory that they know what really works.

Anti-frizz products are your best friend in the summer, as are hair dryers with diffusers. You don’t need a brush or to scrunch your hair with your fingers. Avoid “hot” settings on your hair dryer as much as possible. Adding some shine spray and then giving your hair a quick blast with cool air should work better and be less damaging.

Latest hair fashion

April 29, 2012 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair, Women’s Fashion

With the end of winter approaching, women are actively looking for the new hair fashion that will dominate the coming spring and summer. The new hair fashion trends of the season are all very exciting and display wonderful looks combined with previously unseen colors. The hair fashion of this spring covers a wide variety of looks from the classic to the modern.

The 40s are back
Unexpected though it may be, the hair fashion of the 1930-1940s have made a brilliant comeback. And no, it is not only for going to a retro dance ball. The return to this ancient hair fashion is sparked by the renewed desire for luxury that the 1930s hairstyle represented. Elegance, glamour, opulence, finesse and extravagance are some of the words associated with the hair fashion of the 1930s. The curls and waves of this hair fashion symbolize emotion and powerful beauty.

Long and Sleek
This classic hair fashion remains a favorite because of the extraordinarily beautiful appearance it generates. Long tresses, styled smooth along the face, are parted right down the middle. This hair fashion brings attention to the face and body.

Focus on Color
Contrast of colors is the new dogma. White blonde is paired with cool turquoise or pink. Blonde can be daringly paired with gothic reds and blacks. This type of hair fashion brings forward a desire to be different; a will to be distinguished from the others. Although, color has been predominant in hair fashion for some time now, new contrasts are becoming more popular than ever before.

Hairstyle and the personality of women

April 08, 2012 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair, Women’s Fashion

Many people think that they have the ultimate choice over how they look. Hairstyle, being a fundamental part of our appearance, is often carefully chosen by most of us in order to reflect our body size, shape and other physical characteristics. Research has shown that humans begin to form an impression of an individual’s personality and character within seconds of first meeting them. Hairstyle has been shown to be one of the major factors that help form an opinion of the personality of the person we are looking at. The reverse has also become known to be true. We choose our hairstyle in function of our inherent personality traits.

Short Hairstyle Personality
Short hairstyle is often associated with financial well-being. A well-groomed hairstyle of this type indicates a personality that cares for appearance and is willing to spend profusely in order to look splendid. This also suggests some vanity and a psychological need for acceptance.

Long Hair Personality
Long hair indicates some resistance to growing up. Women with long hair have trouble accepting their age. It indicates a personality that is immature and irresponsible.

Hair colored white/gray Personality
Women with light colors as these have little problem with growing old. Their personality is independent. Social norms and pressures are shrugged off easily. They decide for themselves what is right or wrong.

Purple hair Personality
Women with strange hair colors are non-conformists. Most of them have an artistic side. Most of them are young and have a taste for adventure.

Fashion Style Tips for Pregnant Women

March 25, 2012 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Women’s Fashion

For many people, looking beautiful is not the primary concern when you are expecting. Many other pressing stuff piles on top and pregnant women may just wish to let their appearance drift. For others, spending too much on clothing is only futile expenditure since the pregnant woman will certainly have to return to her earlier size in 9 months time. These may be true to a certain extent. If you can wait nine months to look beautiful again, then why not? But if you are working or frequently go out, this is not a solution. At the same time, there are two important considerations for a pregnant woman: the safety of her child and her comfort. Any clothing style she chooses should respect both conditions. Here are some tips for women who wish to be stylish even during pregnancy.

Change the Hairstyle to fit your new body condition
The hairstyle is the easiest to change during pregnancy. Of course, you are looking to appear slimmer. Thus avoid short hairstyles (i.e. above the chin). This adds to the roundness of the face and makes the double chin at the end of the third trimester even more noticeable. Longer hair, below the shoulder line should be preferred.

Clothing
Certain dress styles look good on pregnant women such as: A-line skirts, empire-waist dresses and tops, and pencil skirts together with swingy shirts. Try to make people notice your neckline rather than have them focusing on your protruding belly. This can be done by wearing a single color or having eye-catching accessories.

Hair care tips for pregnant women

June 09, 2011 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Beauty, Hair, Tips & how to’s

One of the things you might notice when you are pregnant is the luscious and beautiful hair that you develop. Hormonal changes in the body result in hair growth (some of them unwanted) so that your hair will seem fuller, shinier and more lustrous. Other changes might be noticed in the hair texture. Your hair if you are pregnant is almost always different than normal hairs. Oily hair may become oilier while dry hair may become drier. For most women, these changes become apparent around the second trimester. Some pregnant women may wish

Adapt your hairstyle to the condition of the hair
If your hair becomes thicker, you may like to have longer hair as this compensates for the more rounded face most pregnant women have. However, if your hair is drier, longer hair will make it more difficult to manage. A short hairstyle will be healthier for your hair.

Change the Frequency of Shampooing
If your hair is oilier, you may wish to wash your hair more frequently. If, the contrary, your hair is drier the frequency of washing should be reduced in order to preserve the natural oils produced in the scalp. The type of shampoo used should also be adapted to the new hair condition. Milder shampoos suit drier hair.

Avoid blow dryers
Blow dryers harm the roots of the hair and encourage hair fall. As a hair care, a towel is certainly healthier for the scalp.

Avoid Chemicals
While hair dyes and other permanent colorings are considered safe to pregnant women, most doctors do not advise their use. It is therefore best to adopt natural hair style and coloring if you are pregnant.

Being pregnant is a sensitive condition for women and for the baby. It is important to have proper hair care to maintain the look and beauty of your hair.
