Women Hair Accessories

May 02, 2011 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair

Women love to use hair accessories. It all started in childhood when our mothers put bows, headbands and barrettes into our hair. Of course, they had to coordinate with the outfit we were wearing. As we grew older, we use ponytail holders more to quickly contain our hair or as we grew out our bangs in the teenage years. There are so many options in hair accessories available.

Barrettes continue to be used by women because they are excellent in gathering hair away from the face. A main advantage to barrettes is that they are designed according to hair texture. Barrettes that match hair color can blend into the hair. Another option is to wear a barrette that is designed to draw attention. These barrettes may use have intricate designs or be encased with colorful stones.

Hard headbands are another popular hair accessory for keeping hair controlled and off of the face. They are usually made out of hard plastic, but some are covered with decorative fabric that can coordinate with the outfit being worn. Headbands can be plain or stylized with studded jewels or beads.

Israeli tiechels are traditional head covering for Jewish women. They can be basic as shown below or colorfully designed in paisleys. They cover all the hair, except for the bangs. They are simple and beautiful.

A more casual hair accessory is the bandana. They are many colors and design from which to choose. Usually bandanas are used to contain the hair around the face. The hair in the back is usually left long.

Women have many choices when choosing hair accessories.
