Hairstyle :A Form of Self Expression

June 09, 2011 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair

A hairstyle is one way that many people choose to express themselves and stand out from others. Many styles can be put into two basic categories. They are traditional and daring. The more traditional styles can be found in professional workplaces. Daring styles are a little different. You may not be able to find these in a work place so easily.

Traditional hairstyles are usually used in weddings, proms, and professional work settings. These styles are thought of as classy and down to earth. These styles can be worn anywhere and look great.
Some hairstyles are even thought of as age sensitive. What does this mean? This means that certain hairstyles are mostly seen on people of a certain age. A bun pulled to the back is usually seen on older women than it is on someone younger. A lot of the traditional hairstyles will be worn on special occasions and by an older crowd. As the more daring styles are concerned, a lot of the younger crowd is seen wearing these outrageous styles.

What’s the difference between daring and traditional styles? Traditional styles are classy and appropriate for any occasion. These styles are also plain and simple. As for the daring hairstyles, there is no limit to what you can do with your hair. You can add neon colors, beads, have a Mohawk, and a lot more. The only downfall here is that you may not be able to wear this style everywhere you would like.

Hairstyles repeat themselves just like history. A great style from many years ago could become a new trend in the years to come. You can always add your own personal touch to any style to make it your own.

Wedding Hairstyle Suggestions

June 09, 2011 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: wedding hair

Your hair is very important, especially for a special occasion such as a wedding. This is a very special day for you and surely you want everything to be more than perfect. There are quite a lot of things that contribute to the perfect wedding. Many people believe that the dress makes everything, but this is not true. The dress is very important, but your hair is just as important.

A lot of people don’t realize how much of a difference a hairstyle makes. It can take away from the dress tremendously or add a lot of class to it. It all depends on the style. No matter what style of dress you choose, make sure that it compliments everything you decide to wear down the aisle.
When it comes to a wedding, many brides choose an up-do, or some sort of pinned up style. You may prefer to wear your hair down, and this is fine as long as it doesn’t take the character out of your dress or take away from it. A lot of brides make this mistake. There’s no need to worry though, it can all be avoided. There are many different types of wedding dresses. Most of these dresses can be put into two categories, which are simple and plain and complex and designer.

The simple and plain dresses are just as their name states. They are to the point, don’t have too many designs or anything else that would make it flashy or stand out. As for the complex dresses, they have lots of designs, patterns, glitter, and even rhinestones on them. These are definitely the kind of dresses that require an up-do.

If your back is out in your dress or the neck of your dress is open, it is best to wear an up-do. You will want the attention to be on your dress as well as your hair. You don’t want them to cancel each other out, so be careful with that.

Hairstyle and the personality of women

June 09, 2011 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair, Women’s Fashion

Many people think that they have the ultimate choice over how they look. Hairstyle, being a fundamental part of our appearance, is often carefully chosen by most of us in order to reflect our body size, shape and other physical characteristics. Research has shown that humans begin to form an impression of an individual’s personality and character within seconds of first meeting them. Hairstyle has been shown to be one of the major factors that help form an opinion of the personality of the person we are looking at. The reverse has also become known to be true. We choose our hairstyle in function of our inherent personality traits.

Short Hairstyle Personality
Short hairstyle is often associated with financial well-being. A well-groomed hairstyle of this type indicates a personality that cares for appearance and is willing to spend profusely in order to look splendid. This also suggests some vanity and a psychological need for acceptance.

Long Hair Personality
Long hair indicates some resistance to growing up. Women with long hair have trouble accepting their age. It indicates a personality that is immature and irresponsible.

Hair colored white/gray Personality
Women with light colors as these have little problem with growing old. Their personality is independent. Social norms and pressures are shrugged off easily. They decide for themselves what is right or wrong.

Purple hair Personality
Women with strange hair colors are non-conformists. Most of them have an artistic side. Most of them are young and have a taste for adventure.

New Hairstyle

June 09, 2011 By: Jocelyn Iyog Category: Hair, Women’s Fashion

new-hairstyle-2Kate Gosselin, the famous newly-single mom of eight underwent a bit of a makeover for a photo spread in People magazine recently. With a slicked back ‘do she looked completely different from her normal asymmetrical hairstyle that has been compared to a porcupine and labeled with such unflattering labels as “reverse mullet.”

The asymmetrical “chunky bob” haircut that “everybody” wanted earlier in the summer seems to be seeing a certain degree of backlash presently, having been skewered by several blogs and comedian Kathy Griffin.

But there is still a strong contingent of busy mothers clamoring for the look that involves varying lengths on either side of the face. From the back, her hair is cut into choppy sections. The longer, asymmetrical bangs are a good way to lengthen a round face. It is also a good way to cope with very thick hair, by giving different sections different lengths.
