Curly Hairstyle
by: Jocelyn Iyog
We went through several years where hair was ironed as straight as possible and curly hair took a definite backseat. But now, thank heaven, those of us with waves or curls can embrace our curliness.

Curly hair tends to be dry and fragile. You can keep it healthy by air drying it as much as possible and using weekly moisturizing conditioning treatments. Leave-in conditioners work great for everyday use.
When it’s time to visit your stylist, make sure that she cuts your hair wet in order to see the curl pattern clearly. Make sure you get long layers, or you’ll end up with a mushroom-shaped ‘do. Some curly headed women recommend choosing a stylist with curly hair on the theory that they know what really works.
Anti-frizz products are your best friend in the summer, as are hair dryers with diffusers. You don’t need a brush or to scrunch your hair with your fingers. Avoid “hot” settings on your hair dryer as much as possible. Adding some shine spray and then giving your hair a quick blast with cool air should work better and be less damaging.
Woman’s Wedding Hairstyles
A women’s wedding day is such a memorable day. She wants to look her best. Stunning hair can accent as well as become the focus for the bride.
When choosing the hairstyle for your wedding day, consideration must be given to balance the hairstyle with the wedding dress. For example, if the wedding gown is elaborate, a simple updo will be the perfect accompaniment. In contrast, a form-fitting, strapless gown would do well to be paired with the hair worn down in loose waves.
There are some classic wedding hairstyles that have withstood the test of time. The first is the elegant French twist. A French twist can be fashioned with most hair lengths; if hair is short, a clip-on ponytail can be used. Hair must be brushed smoothly back from the forehead. Gather the hair into a tight ponytail with a base halfway between the crown and nape. The remaining process involves a specific method of folding the ponytail and creating a seam.
Another classic wedding hairstyle is the chignon. Hair should be shoulder length or longer and straight. The key to the chignon is the ponytail that is placed just a few inches off the neck. The ponytail is spread out into a soft roll.
The half-up hairstyle combines the elegance of an updo with free flowing locks. It is usually accomplished by pulling half of the hair up into a high ponytail and securing. The rest of the hair worn down can be curled or straightened.
Woman’s wedding hairstyles offer many great options for the bride.
Pregnancy Hairstyles Tips
The most amazing time in a woman’s life is during her pregnancy. It is a joyous time filled with expectation and hope. It is also a time of change for the woman’s body. As the stomach swells, pregnant women feel more self-conscious about their appearance.
Hormonal changes also affect the hair of the pregnant woman. While some pregnant women enjoy thicker and shinier hair, other experience dryness and hair breakage. Deep conditioning will help to restore vibrancy to hair.
The hairstyles that look best on pregnant women are those they balance their shape. A style that adds volume or height at the crown is a great choice for a pregnant woman. Another suggestion is to wear the hair just above the shoulders because it elongates the neck. Hair that is shoulder length or longer tends to create a single mass silhouette of head, neck, and shoulders that is very unflattering. An advantage to shorter hair is that it is easier to maintain and style, an advantage for pregnancy as well as when taking care of a newborn.
Hairstyles for pregnant women should frame the face. Hair should be directed up and away from the temples. Pixies and bobs are haircuts not suggested because the face usually becomes more rounded during pregnancy. Bangs should be worn brushed to the side or wispy; full bangs would appear too “heavy” for the rounded face.
A major consideration is that coloring and chemical processing should be discontinued while pregnant. There are possible health risks to the fetus with these processes.
Hairstyles during pregnancy should showcase the beauty of the expectant mother’s face.
Hairstyle for Women
The great thing about being a woman is the variety of hairstyles from which to choose. It can even be daunting. With a little thought and the help of an experienced stylist, a great hairstyle can be yours.
Hair texture and shape of the face should be considered first. If your hair is
thick and curly, select a style that will work with those characteristics. Don’t select a style that is suited for straight, fine hair; it is fighting nature. Emphasize your strengths. In the same way, a short bob with bang will look spectacular on a woman with delicate feature and oval face. The same style will not look as flattering on a woman with a very round face.
A classic hairstyle for women continues to be the bob. The bob can be worn with bangs, side or center part or with hair that is one length. This hairstyle is complementary for most women.
Layered hairstyles continue to be popular for women. Layering can vary from short to long. Additionally, layers can vary from the front to the back. The most famous example of layering was the “Rachel” sported by Jennifer Aniston in the television show “Friends”. It is a long layer cut with the front angled slightly below the chin. It is a style that flatters every face shape.
Another popular hairstyle for women is the pixie. This is the ultimate in ease. It is a very short cut that is elegant and classy.
Women have many hairstyle options – isn’t that fabulous?
The Women and Their Hair
The Women and Their Hair by Jocelyn Iyog
Women and their hair have changed according to the current styles. Throughout the ages, women in the Western World have been partly defined by their hair style.
The styles in the last four centuries have been varied. The woman during the Renaissance period in the 15th century had an unusual and painful way to wear their hair. The appearance of a high forehead was coveted. Thus, the women in the upper classes plucked the entire front hairline away! In the 16th century, during Queen Elizabeth’s reign, women copied her style by wearing red wigs and white face powder. Elaborate wigs and very elaborate coiffures with curls were the fashion during the 18th century. A very popular style was a white powdered wig with long ringlets. Feathers, bows and garlands adorned the wigs. In fact, some ladies wore extremely tall wigs and created mini-bird cages complete with live birds.
Women hairstyles became more subdued after that period of frivolity. The
Victorians wore their hair simply smoothed down with oils and curled into long ringlets. The hair was then simply pinned to the nape of the neck. Hair that was neat and tidy was the fashion. Bangs were short and there was hair accessories were plain. In the 1920, the flappers cut their hair and wore bobbed haircuts. This was a show of rebellion against the stereotypical role of the woman. Long, wavy hair was popular in the 1940s.
The weekly “shampoo and set” was the mantra of the tidy hairstyles of the 1950s. Layering and softly curled hair epitomized the 1970s. Since the 1980s, women no longer feel that they have to wear their hair to please anyone but themselves.
